Special facts
The Republic of Bashkortostan, with its capital in Ufa, lies in the Southern Urals. It is one of Russia's largest centres of oil production and refining, and Bashkir honey is known far beyond the republic. Here too is the Kapova Cave, or Shulgan-Tash, with paintings from the Palaeolithic. The 10-rouble coin "Republic of Bashkortostan" was issued in 2007 in the "Russian Federation" series.
About the period
Modern Russia is the money after the redenomination of 1998, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble. The coins and banknotes of the 1997 pattern are still in circulation. More about the period “Modern Russia”, 1997 — to present
