Special facts
Veliky Ustyug is first mentioned in 1207. The town at the confluence of the Sukhona and Yug was a major trading centre of the Russian North, and many explorers set out from here for Siberia; today it is known as the home of Ded Moroz. The 10-rouble coin "Veliky Ustyug" was issued in 2007 in the "Ancient Towns of Russia" series.
