Special facts
Vladimir on the Klyazma was the capital of North-Eastern Rus. The Golden Gate and the Assumption and St Demetrius cathedrals survive from the 12th century and are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. According to one version, the city was founded by Vladimir Monomakh in 1108. The 10-rouble coin "Vladimir (12th century)" was issued in 2008 in the "Ancient Towns of Russia" series.
