Special facts

Priozersk on Lake Ladoga is first mentioned in 1295 as the fortress of Korela. Over the centuries the town changed its name several times — Korela, Kexholm, Käkisalmi — until it became Priozersk in 1948. In the 18th century the family of Yemelyan Pugachev was held in the fortress. The 10-rouble coin "Priozersk" was issued in 2008 in the "Ancient Towns of Russia" series.

About the period

Modern Russia is the money after the redenomination of 1998, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble. The coins and banknotes of the 1997 pattern are still in circulation. More about the period “Modern Russia”, 1997 — to present
