Special facts
The Lipetsk Region was established in 1954; its centre is Lipetsk. The region is known for the Novolipetsk Steel works, and ironworks were already operating in Lipetsk under Peter I. Lipetsk itself became a spa as early as the start of the 19th century thanks to its mineral springs. The 10-rouble coin "Lipetsk Region" was issued in 2007 in the "Russian Federation" series.
