Special facts

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is the largest region of Russia — over three million square kilometres, almost a fifth of the country. Most of Russia's diamonds are mined here; the capital is Yakutsk. Oymyakon has recorded some of the lowest temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere. The 10-rouble coin "Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)" was issued in 2006 in the "Russian Federation" series.

About the period

Modern Russia is the money after the redenomination of 1998, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble. The coins and banknotes of the 1997 pattern are still in circulation. More about the period “Modern Russia”, 1997 — to present
