A 1994 3-rouble coin for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol on 9 May 1944. The city was stormed on 7–9 May 1944, the assault on Sapun Mountain proving decisive; the Crimean operation ended on 12 May at Cape Chersonesus. Sevastopol had spent almost two years under occupation. Sapun Mountain now has the diorama “The Storming of Sapun Mountain, 7 May 1944”.
