Special facts
The peregrine falcon is the fastest bird in the world, reaching over 300 km/h in a dive. The peregrine nests from the tundra to the steppes and gave its name to the high-speed trains between Moscow and Saint Petersburg; in the mid-20th century it almost vanished because of pesticides. The 50-rouble coin "Peregrine Falcon" was issued in 1994 in the "Red Book" series.
