A 1993 3-rouble coin for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad, which ended on 2 February 1943 with the surrender of the encircled German forces. Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus was captured, the first German field marshal ever to surrender, and “Pavlov’s House” in the city centre was held for 58 days by a few dozen soldiers.
