Special facts

The 100 roubles from the 1996 set for the tercentenary of the Russian fleet is dedicated to the icebreaker fleet: in 1977 the nuclear icebreaker Arktika became the first surface ship to reach the North Pole. Russia is the only country with a nuclear icebreaker fleet: the first nuclear icebreaker, Lenin, was launched in 1957, and the fleet’s home port is Murmansk.
