Credit notes of Alexander III
State Credit Notes of the State Bank in the reign of Alexander III (1881–1894). The notes of the 1866 pattern (1, 3, 5, 10 and 100 roubles) carry the monogram of Alexander III, were printed with the dates 1882–1886 and were taken out of use at the start of 1893. The notes of the new 1887 pattern entered circulation in 1888–1889 and, after the Witte reform, continued to be issued with a changed exchange text. The notes were signed by the manager of the bank (Tsimsen, then Zhukovsky, from 1894 Pleske) and a cashier, and printed by the Expedition for the Preparation of State Papers in Saint Petersburg.

The back has a large stylised figure 1 with the word "РУБЛЬ" set diagonally. Watermark: rhombi made of light and dark triangles. In circulation from 15 October 1889; dated 1887, 1889, 1890, 1892 and 1894; size 142 × 83 mm.
