Credit notes of Alexander III
State Credit Notes of the State Bank in the reign of Alexander III (1881–1894). The notes of the 1866 pattern (1, 3, 5, 10 and 100 roubles) carry the monogram of Alexander III, were printed with the dates 1882–1886 and were taken out of use at the start of 1893. The notes of the new 1887 pattern entered circulation in 1888–1889 and, after the Witte reform, continued to be issued with a changed exchange text. The notes were signed by the manager of the bank (Tsimsen, then Zhukovsky, from 1894 Pleske) and a cashier, and printed by the Expedition for the Preparation of State Papers in Saint Petersburg.
Appearance
Vertical ten-rouble note of the 1894 pattern, a multicolour Orlov print (red, brown, yellow and blue). The front shows a symbolic sun with the figure 10, spreading rays and a frame shaped like the letter П with rosettes. Watermark: the figure 10 repeated at an angle. Size 104 × 174 mm. The note is dated 1894 and was printed with that date until 1898, but entered circulation only in August 1895. A specimen perforated "ОБРАЗЕЦ" is known.
