Special facts

Tula is a Hero City: in the autumn of 1941 the almost encircled city of gunsmiths blocked Guderian's panzer army from reaching Moscow. Tula received the title of Hero City in 1976, and the city is famed for its arms works, founded by Peter I in 1712, and for its samovars and gingerbread. This 2-rouble coin honouring the Hero City of Tula was issued in 2000 for the 55th anniversary of Victory.
