Special facts

During the war Kuibyshev, today's Samara, became the reserve capital: the government, the people's commissariats, the diplomatic corps and the Bolshoi Theatre were evacuated here, and the population grew from 390,000 to 700,000. Here in 1942 a bunker for Stalin was built 37 metres underground. The 10-rouble coin "Samara" was issued in 2024 in the "Cities of Labour Valour" series.

About the period

Modern Russia is the money after the redenomination of 1998, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble. The coins and banknotes of the 1997 pattern are still in circulation. More about the period “Modern Russia”, 1997 — to present
