Special facts
Rybinsk is regarded as the successor of the settlement of Ust-Sheksna, first mentioned in 1071. Rybnaya Sloboda supplied fish to the grand princes' and tsars' table, and in 1777 it became the town of Rybinsk, the main transshipment port of the Upper Volga. Above the town spreads the Rybinsk Reservoir, one of the largest man-made seas. A coin of the "Ancient Towns of Russia" series, 2023.
