Special facts
Grozny was one of the main targets of the German advance into the Caucasus in 1942; the enemy was stopped on the approaches to the city, and Grozny oil kept supplying the front. The city grew out of the Groznaya fortress, laid down in 1818 by General Alexei Yermolov. The 10-rouble coin "Grozny" was issued in 2015 in the "Cities of Military Glory" series.
