Special facts
Mozhaysk twice shielded Moscow: in 1812 the Battle of Borodino was fought nearby, and in the autumn of 1941 the Mozhaysk defence line ran through the town. Mozhaysk is first mentioned in the chronicles in 1231, and the Luzhetsky Monastery was founded here in 1408. The 10-rouble coin "Mozhaysk" was issued in 2015 in the "Cities of Military Glory" series.
