Special facts
Lomonosov, formerly Oranienbaum, was in 1941–1944 the centre of the Oranienbaum bridgehead, a strip of land on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland that the enemy never took. The town has been called Lomonosov since 1948, and the palaces of Oranienbaum came through the war almost undamaged. The 10-rouble coin "Lomonosov" was issued in 2015 in the "Cities of Military Glory" series.
