Series, cashiers and factories

There are ten cashiers. The note was printed at five works: the First Moscow Goznak factory printed series АЛ, АР, ББ, БЕ, БЖ, БМ, ВЗ, ГГ, ГИ, ДД; the Second Moscow factory АЕ; the 17th typolithography of the VSNKh АА; the Ural (Perm) factory АХ and ВВ; and the Rostov factory АЫ. Each block accounted for 1 million notes.

Watermarks and numbering mismatches

The paper occurs in three varieties: with large six-pointed stars (Pick 116a), small ones (116b) and — rarely — a carpet-like cross pattern (116c). A similar but larger cross pattern (116d) is in fact found only on counterfeits, not on genuine notes. Signature and numbering mismatches are known for the АА series and roughly 25 further individual blocks across other series; they are not treated as separate varieties.

Appearance

The obverse shows a hammer and sickle, the denomination spelled out above, the inscription «РАСЧЕТНЫЙ ЗНАК», the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier, and the block number. The reverse shows the value '50000' at the centre. The printing is blue-green. The note measures 163 × 89 mm.

About the period

The settlement notes of 1920–1921 were the last money of the RSFSR before the redenomination of 1922. In two years the denominations grew from 3 to 100,000 roubles. More about the period “Settlement notes”, 1920 — 1921
