Issue history
The three-rouble note entered circulation in April 1921. It was printed by the Orlov method at the Rostov Goznak factory; the issue amounted to 207.8 million roubles.
Sheets, watermarks and specimens
The notes were printed in sheets of 20 (4 × 5) and cut apart by hand. Uncut sheet in the Denisov catalogue: К3-13л. The watermark comes in two types: spades (К3-13, Pick 84a) and stars (К3-13.1, Pick 84b). Specimens are perforated «ОБРАЗЕЦ» on watermarked paper.
Appearance
Unlike the three-rouble note of 1919, this one has a green reverse: both sides are printed in green, and the reverse sits on a guilloché background with an ornate value panel in the centre.
About the period
The settlement notes of 1920–1921 were the last money of the RSFSR before the redenomination of 1922. In two years the denominations grew from 3 to 100,000 roubles. More about the period “Settlement notes”, 1920 — 1921
