100000 rubles — RSFSR (1921)

The hundred-thousand-rouble settlement note is the highest denomination of the second 1921 issue, authorised by the decree of the Council of People's Commissars of 30 July 1921 and put into circulation the same day. It carries two signatures: People's Commissar of Finance N. Krestinsky and one of ten cashiers. It was printed at two Moscow works: series АБ at the 17 typolithographs of the VSNKh, and fifteen series (АЗ, АО, АЫ, БВ, БИ, ВГ, ВК, ГД, ГЛ, ДЕ, ДМ, ЕА, ЕЖ, ЖБ, ЖЗ) at the First Goznak factory. Each block accounted for 1 to 2 million notes in series АБ, and far more — up to 73 million — in the fifteen-series group. The notes began to be withdrawn from circulation on 1 July 1922, and could be exchanged for 1922-series roubles at 10,000 to 1 until 1 November 1922.

Blocks АО-185 and АО-205 show an error: the cashier signature printed does not match the one expected for that block number. Specimens carry an «ОБРАЗЕЦ» overprint (two overprint types are known).

The printing is red, and the serial number is red too — at top left, with the signature at bottom right, a decorative border on the right, the RSFSR coat of arms at centre left, and the value at top and centre right. The reverse shows the value '100000' in a cartouche on a red field, inside a rectangle. The paper is thin and beige. The note measures 159 × 87 mm.
