Special facts
The Kamyenyets Tower on the front is a defensive tower built in 1271–1289 by the architect Aleksa on the orders of Prince Vladimir Vasilkovich of Volhynia. Of several such towers on Belarusian lands, it is the only one to survive.
Appearance
Five-rouble note of the 2009 pattern. The front shows the Kamyanyets (White) Tower in Kamyanyets, Brest Region; the back a collage on the first Slavic settlements: a piece of leather belt, a wooden wheel and the ancient stronghold of Berestye. The halftone watermark repeats a fragment of the front image; the windowed metallised security thread is narrow. Size 135 × 72 mm. Dated 2009 and issued on 1 July 2016; it carries the facsimile of Pyotar Prakapovich. Printed by De La Rue, London. Notes from the commemorative set "My Country — Belarus" (1,000 copies) with a special series and number are known.
