10000 rubles — RSFSR (1921)

The ten-thousand-rouble settlement note of the 1921 issue was authorised by the same decree of the Council of People's Commissars of 16 June 1921 as the other high denominations in this series, and went into circulation the same day. It carries two signatures: that of Nikolai Krestinsky, People's Commissar of Finance (the same on all notes), and one of six cashiers, set by the series and block number; each block accounted for 2 million notes. It was printed at three Goznak factories: the First Moscow factory printed series АБ, the Ural (Perm) factory printed БА, and the Penza factory printed ВГ. Planned series at the Rostov factory (АО, АТ, АЦ, АЫ) were never actually printed. The notes began to be withdrawn from circulation on 1 July 1922, and could be exchanged for 1922-series roubles at 10,000 to 1 until 1 November 1922.

The paper carries a star watermark. Block АА-065 shows an oddity: series АА should not exist at all for this denomination — most likely, a simple numbering slip.

The obverse is dark red on a light red underprint: the value '10000' and the inscription «РАСЧЕТНЫЙ ЗНАК РОССИЙСКОЙ СОЦИАЛИСТИЧЕСКОЙ ФЕДЕРАТИВНОЙ СОВЕТСКОЙ РЕСПУБЛИКИ», the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier, and the block number in the lower right corner. The reverse has the RSFSR coat of arms at the centre, with the slogan 'Workers of the world, unite!' in five languages around the value. The note measures 127 × 92 mm.
