Special facts
During the war Irkutsk factories made aircraft, tanks and ammunition, and the people of Irkutsk were the first in the country to raise money for a tank column, "Irkutsk Komsomolets", handed over to the front in May 1942. The Irkutsk aircraft plant, which worked through the war, today assembles MC-21 airliners. The 10-rouble coin "Irkutsk" was issued in 2022 in the "Cities of Labour Valour" series.
