Special facts

A 1988 rouble for the 160th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910). Tolstoy wrote “War and Peace” and “Anna Karenina”; his estate of Yasnaya Polyana became a museum reserve, and in 1910 the writer secretly left home and died at Astapovo station. The rouble came out in the same year as the Gorky jubilee rouble and in the same number, about 3.8 million.
