50000 rubles — RSFSR (1921)

The fifty-thousand-rouble settlement note of the second 1921 issue was authorised by the decree of the Council of People's Commissars of 30 July 1921 and put into circulation the same day. It carries two signatures: People's Commissar of Finance N. Krestinsky and one of ten cashiers. It was printed at five works: the First Moscow factory of Goznak printed series АЛ, АР, ББ, БЕ, БЖ, БМ, ВЗ, ГГ, ГИ, ДД; the Second Moscow factory printed АЕ; the 17 typolithographs of the VSNKh printed АА; the Ural (Perm) factory printed АХ and ВВ; and the Rostov factory printed АЫ. Each block accounted for 1 million notes. The notes began to be withdrawn from circulation on 1 July 1922, and could be exchanged for 1922-series roubles at 10,000 to 1 until 1 November 1922.

The paper occurs in three varieties: with large six-pointed stars (Pick 116a), small ones (116b) and — rarely — a carpet-like cross pattern (116c, without a cashier breakdown). A similar but larger cross pattern (116d) is in fact found only on counterfeits, not on genuine notes. Signature and numbering mismatches are known for the АА series and roughly 25 further individual blocks across other series, but the source gives no detailed row-by-row breakdown — these cases are not itemised as separate rows here.

The obverse shows a hammer and sickle, the denomination spelled out above, the inscription «РАСЧЕТНЫЙ ЗНАК», the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier, and the block number. The reverse shows the value '50000' at the centre. The printing is blue-green. The note measures 163 × 89 mm.
