Appearance
A Napoleonic forgery of the second-type 50-rouble assignat: the design and text are the same as on the genuine note, but on embossed paper of better quality; the words "государственной" and "ходячею" sometimes carry a mistake ("л" instead of "д") and the signatures are facsimiles. Size 195 × 130 mm; dated 1805–1808. Not a bank issue.
About the period
The second-type assignats replaced the first-type notes, which were forged far too often. The design stayed almost the same, but the paper was now coloured, made at a special mill in Tsarskoye Selo. More about the period “Assignats”, 1786 — 1818
