Special facts

The red-brick tower on the front is traditionally called the White Tower; since 1960 it has housed a branch of the Brest Regional Museum of Local History.

Appearance

Five-rouble note, a revised printing of the 2009 design, put into circulation in 20 May 2019. The front shows the Kamyanyets (White) Tower in Kamyanyets, Brest Region; the back a collage on the first Slavic settlements: a piece of leather belt, a wooden wheel and the ancient stronghold of Berestye. A light filigree numeral was added to the watermark and the security thread is wider than on the 2009 issue. The signature is absent. Size 135 × 72 mm. Printed by Goznak, Moscow.

About the period
