30 rubles — RSFSR (1919)

The thirty-rouble note belongs to the second series of settlement notes of 1919, like the fifteen-rouble one: both were introduced by a single decree of the Council of People's Commissars of 21 October 1919. The reverse, with the RSFSR coat of arms in red-brown and blue, was printed by the Orlov method. Issuing was stopped by a decree of 28 June 1922; withdrawal began in mid-1921, and the notes could be exchanged for 1922-series roubles at 10,000 to 1 until 1 November 1922. The print run was 63 million notes.

Every note carries two signatures: Chief Commissioner of the People's Bank G. Pyatakov (the same on all) and one of the cashiers. The note was printed by three Goznak factories, and the block number shows which one: the First Moscow factory printed blocks АА-001…024, Penza АА-053…065 and Perm (the Urals) АА-100…125. Within each factory the cashier is set by the block number and repeats in rotation. Each block is 1,000,000 notes, 63 blocks and 63,000,000 notes in all; the table has a separate row for each cashier and factory combination.

The notes were printed in sheets of 10 (2 × 5). A full sheet is worth more than single notes (Denisov catalogue: К3-5л). A printing error is known: the reverse printed upside down (Pick 99x). Specimens are perforated «ОБРАЗЕЦЪ».

The obverse is brown on a green underprint. The reverse is red-brown and blue on a multicolour underprint, with the RSFSR coat of arms in the centre. The watermark is large six-pointed stars across the whole field.
