Special facts
In the summer of 1941 the Luga defence line held back the German advance on Leningrad for more than a month. Luga became a town in 1777 under Catherine II, and after the war it had to be rebuilt: the occupation had lasted two and a half years. The 10-rouble coin "Luga" was issued in 2012 in the "Cities of Military Glory" series.
