Two watermark forms

The eight-line type of the 10-rouble note is the only one in the issue whose two watermark forms occur on notes that actually entered circulation, not just on specimens. Most of the series has the ordinary corners watermark, the late part large shadow stars. The notes of the late part were signed by only four of the ten cashiers: Dyukov, Kolosov, Loshkin and Silayev.

Appearance

The obverse is black on a light-grey ground: a guilloché pattern with the value «10» and the word «РУБЛЕЙ», the RSFSR coat of arms at upper left, a serial number of two letters and four digits printed twice, the year «1923», and the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier. The reverse is brown on a multicolour (light brown, blue, yellow) ground, with an ornamental frame and the value in the corners, the text set in eight lines. The note measures 129 × 80 mm.

About the period

The state currency notes of 1923 were the second and last sovznak issue. One rouble of 1923 equalled 100 roubles of the 1922 pattern. More about the period “State currency notes”, 1923
