Reverse text and specimens

The reverse text instead of a sum in old notes refers to the decree of 24 October 1922 — hence the "eight-line" type. The series is АА, blocks 019-045, partly overlapping the first type's blocks. Unlike most denominations, only one specimen form is confirmed here — perforated «ОБРАЗЕЦ».

Appearance

The obverse is brown on a light-brown ground: a guilloché pattern with the value «1» and the word «РУБЛЬ», the RSFSR coat of arms at upper left, a red serial number of two letters and three digits printed twice, the year «1923», and the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier. The reverse is brown on a multicolour (light brown, green, pink, blue) ground, with an ornamental frame and the value in the corners, the text set in eight lines. The note measures 110 × 67 mm.

About the period

The state currency notes of 1923 were the second and last sovznak issue. One rouble of 1923 equalled 100 roubles of the 1922 pattern. More about the period “State currency notes”, 1923
