Signatures
The note was signed by the management board of the State Bank, so the signatures depend on its composition. The first issue carries the signatures of the chairman A. Sheinman, the second, later one those of the chairman G. Pyatakov; all specimens bear the signatures of the first board. The series of the first issue run from АА to РЗ and on from РЛ, those of the second are РЗ, РИ and РК.
Appearance
Black lettering and frame on white paper, with a multicolour (pink, green, yellow) guilloché at right and left. The state emblem is at top centre, with the inscriptions «БАНКОВЫЙ БИЛЕТ» and «Один червонец»; a red serial number of two series letters and six digits is printed twice. The watermark is lozenges, and the reverse is blank.
About the period
The chervonets was the unit of the gold-backed currency introduced by the currency reform of 1922. The State Bank of the RSFSR notes in chervontsy entered circulation on 27 November 1922. More about the period “Chervonets notes”, 1922
