The rifle pierced the armour of the German light and medium tanks of the early war years, and Simonov later also created the SKS self-loading carbine. The 25-rouble coin "Weapons Designer Sergei Simonov" was issued in 2019 in the "Weapons of the Great Victory (Weapons Designers)" series.
