Special facts

Peter I took Vyborg in 1710, securing Russia's access to the Baltic. In the summer of 1944 the Red Army's Vyborg operation regained the city. Vyborg Castle with its Tower of St. Olaf was founded by the Swedes in 1293, the only medieval Western European castle in Russia. The 10-rouble coin "Vyborg" was issued in 2014 in the "Cities of Military Glory" series.
