Special facts

The rouble of 1722–1725 has a cross of four “P” monograms on the reverse instead of the eagle. In 1722 it was struck at the Kadashevsky Mint, from 1723 at the Krasny; the rouble of 1723 is also known with a portrait in an ermine mantle.

About the period

The coins of Peter I belong to the time of the monetary reform that took Russia from small silver "scale" coins to round coins of the modern kind and to decimal reckoning: one rouble equals one hundred kopecks. More about the period “Peter I”, 1700 — 1725
