Appearance
Both sides are printed in dark blue-black over a multicoloured ground — mainly lilac, with red and green. The front is dominated by a portrait based on Ivan Shadr's sculpture "Red Army Soldier", surrounded by a five-pointed star, laurel branches, ears of wheat, banners, weapons and tools. At the left is a coupon field in which the USSR arms and the year "1923" show against the light. Below are the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier, and the serial number is printed twice. The back has the value "25000" in a meander frame on a brown, red and green guilloché ground, the text in the languages of the union republics and, on the coupon, "ИМЕЕТ ХОЖДЕНИЕ ПО ВСЕЙ ТЕРРИТОРИИ СОЮЗА". Size 155 × 77 mm.
About the period
The three highest denominations of the 1923 sovznaks — 10,000, 15,000 and 25,000 roubles — were issued by the People's Commissariat of Finance of the USSR rather than the RSFSR. They were the last sovznaks before the currency reform of 1924. More about the period “Third Rouble tail”, 1923
