Appearance
Black print over a multicolor ground (lilac is the dominant color, with red, blue and green) on both sides. The front is dominated by a portrait based on Ivan Shadr's sculpture "Peasant" (1922), surrounded by ribbons, ears of wheat and wreaths; at the left is a coupon field for viewing the watermark, showing the USSR coat of arms and the year "1923", with the signatures of the People's Commissar of Finance and a cashier below, and the serial number printed twice. The reverse has a Greek-key (meander) frame around the value "15000" on a guilloché ground; the text is repeated in the languages of the union republics, and the coupon reads "ИМЕЕТ ХОЖДЕНИЕ ПО ВСЕЙ ТЕРРИТОРИИ СОЮЗА". Size: 155 × 79 mm.
About the period
The three highest denominations of the 1923 sovznaks — 10,000, 15,000 and 25,000 roubles — were issued by the People's Commissariat of Finance of the USSR rather than the RSFSR. They were the last sovznaks before the currency reform of 1924. More about the period “Third Rouble tail”, 1923
