Special facts

Since 2005 the Radziwiłł architectural ensemble at Nesvizh has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the same year this note appeared. The view of the castle on the back comes from Napoleon Orda, who sketched hundreds of the region’s manors and castles in the nineteenth century.

Appearance

100,000-rouble note of the Belarusian rouble (BYR), dated 2000. The front shows Radziwill Castle in Nesvizh; the back a view of Nesvizh Castle from a painting by Napoleon Orda. Watermark: the Radziwill coat of arms and the letters NBRB. Size 150 × 74 mm. Put into circulation on 15 July 2005, withdrawn from circulation on 1 January 2017.

About the period

The 2000 banknotes appeared after the redenomination of 1 January 2000, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble (code BYR). All of them are dated 2000, although large denominations kept being added for another twelve years. More about the period “Issue of 2000”, 2000 — 2016
