Special facts
A 100-som note of the 2009 series overprinted for the 150th anniversary of the bard and composer Toktogul Satylganov, a collector issue released by the National Bank on 20 October 2014 in 3,000 pieces. The overprint fills the watermark area on the right of the face: a golden profile of Toktogul framed by national ornament and an inscription marking the jubilee; the rest of the design, the portrait with the tündük and the Toktogul power station on the back, is that of the ordinary note.
About the period
The issue of 2009–2017 is a new generation of notes from 20 to 5000 som, the small values having been replaced by coins by then. The figures are the same, but the design and security features were updated, and the new 5000 som, with the actor Suimenkul Chokmorov and Ala-Too Square, was released on 2 March 2009.
