Special facts

During the war Barnaul took in 14 evacuated plants. Every second Soviet cartridge came from Plant No. 17, and every fifth T-34 tank had a diesel engine assembled at Barnaul's Transmash. Barnaul grew from the 1730s around Akinfy Demidov’s silver-smelting works. The 10-rouble coin "Barnaul" was issued in 2026 in the "Cities of Labour Valour" series.

About the period

Modern Russia is the money after the redenomination of 1998, when a thousand old roubles became one new rouble. The coins and banknotes of the 1997 pattern are still in circulation. More about the period “Modern Russia”, 1997 — to present
