Special facts
One million rubles were struck with the date 1921 and twice as many with 1922. In 1924 they were followed by the USSR ruble with a worker pointing a peasant towards the rising sun.
Appearance
The rouble is the largest coin of the series: 33.5 mm and 20 g of .900 silver. It shares its design with the poltinnik: the RSFSR arms in a beaded circle on one side and the value within a five-pointed star on the other. The edge is lettered with the weight of pure silver and the mint-master's initials — "А·Г" (1921 and 1922) or "П·Л" (1922).
About the period
The RSFSR silver coins of 1921–1923 are the first Soviet coins. They were struck to the pre-war standard of weight and fineness but released into circulation only in 1924. More about the period “RSFSR 1921-1923 silver coinage”
