Special facts

Anna Ioannovna’s polushka of 4.1 grams was issued from 1730 to 1740. The coins of 1735 came from the rolling mill on the Yauza, temporarily turned into a mint, and from 1738 the polushka was made at the Yekaterinburg Mint.

About the period

The coins of Anna Ioannovna belong to the time when silver was made purer: from 1730 the rouble was struck in .802 fineness instead of .728. It became lighter — 25.85 grams instead of 28.44 — but kept the same amount of pure silver. More about the period “Anna I”, 1730 — 1740
