Canada — Issue of 1923-1925

The last issue of Dominion notes before the Bank of Canada was founded shows the royal family: George V on the 1 dollar of 1923, the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VIII, on the 2 dollars, Queen Mary on the 5 dollars of 1924, George V on the 500 and Queen Mary on the 1,000 dollars of 1925. The last 25-cent note, of 1923 with Britannia, belongs here too. They were printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company.

The 1923 dollar is a collectors’ favourite: it was printed in four groups with the Department of Finance seal in different colours, black, red, blue, green and bronze, purple on the test notes, and with four pairs of signatures. The back of the dollar shows the Library of Parliament, the 2 dollars the arms of Canada granted in 1921, and the 5 dollars the East Block of Parliament.
