“500th Anniversary of the Unified Russian State” series

In the catalogue: collector coins — 18.

The last large coin programme of the USSR: three issues of 1989–1991 for the 500th anniversary of the unified Russian state, six coins each in platinum, gold, palladium and silver. The first issue is devoted to Ivan III and the Moscow Kremlin, the second to the age of Peter I and the third to the 19th century: the war of 1812, the abolition of serfdom and Leo Tolstoy.

All three issues follow one pattern: two silver 3-rouble coins, palladium 25 roubles, gold 50 and 100 roubles and platinum 150 roubles. The subjects span five centuries, from the Great Stand on the Ugra and the first all-Russian coins to the Bronze Horseman, Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and the Bolshoi Theatre.
