Special facts
A jubilee 25 dollars for the Silver Jubilee of George V, the Bank of Canada’s first commemorative note, issued on 6 May 1935, exactly 25 years after the king came to the throne. The face shows George V and Queen Mary, the back Windsor Castle. This is the English version.
About the period
The first Bank of Canada notes appeared on 11 March 1935, the day the bank opened: from 1 to 1,000 dollars, smaller and more colourful than the Dominion notes. It is the only Bank of Canada series printed in two separate versions, in English and in French, the French notes being meant for Quebec. More about the period “Issue of 1935”
