Appearance

Horizontal note in blue and yellow tones, 110 × 60 mm -- unlike the vertical smaller denominations of this series. The obverse is split into a plain white field at left (the USSR arms at top, "1924" at bottom) and a wider, patterned field at right with a wavy-line ground, "ПЯТЬДЕСЯТ КОПЕЕК" between two digits "50", the silver-coin-parity text and the printed signatures of the Commissar of Finance and a cashier. The reverse has a yellowish ground: an ornamental frame at left, a large digit "50" at centre with "С.С.С.Р." below, the value spelled out in Russian plus five more union-republic languages at left and right. Watermark: "windows" -- squares made of four smaller squares, in groups of four separated by lines.

Treasury change bons (1924)

Казначейские разменные боны — боны Наркомфина СССР, выпущенные по постановлению ЦИК и СНК СССР от 22 февраля 1924 года для устранения нехватки разменной монеты при переходе на рубль образца 1924 года. Пять номиналов — 1, 2, 3, 5 и 50 копеек; бона в 20 копеек была подготовлена, но так и не выпущена в обращение. Рисунок частично Ивана Дубасова, печатал Гознак. Ходили наравне с серебряной монетой («ИМЕЕТ/ИМЕЮТ ХОЖДЕНИЕ НАРАВНЕ С СЕРЕБРЯНОЙ МОНЕТОЙ»), изъяты из обращения к 31 августа 1926 года. Знаки 1, 2, 3 и 5 копеек не несут подписей вовсе; знак 50 копеек — единственный в серии — подписан наркомом финансов и кассиром.
