The first Belarusian rouble: the issues of 1994–1999
In 1994–1999 the National Bank issued notes from 1,000 roubles to 5 million roubles, as inflation pushed the denominations up. The fronts show buildings and places of Minsk and Brest (the National Bank, the Brest Hero Fortress memorial, the Grand Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Palace of Culture of the Trade Unions, the National Art Museum, the Palace of Sports). The notes were withdrawn on 1 January 2001 and could be exchanged at the National Bank until 31 December 2003.
