About the period
The first Bank of Canada notes appeared on 11 March 1935, the day the bank opened: from 1 to 1,000 dollars, smaller and more colourful than the Dominion notes. It is the only Bank of Canada series printed in two separate versions, in English and in French, the French notes being meant for Quebec. More about the period “Issue of 1935”
