Appearance

The design of the first issue (a portrait of Lenin, the USSR coat of arms), but with new elements added on the white fields, and a colored overprint of the value "100" at the right of the obverse and the left of the reverse (on the obverse also the year "1991"). The reverse shows the wall of the Moscow Kremlin with the Beklemishevskaya (Moskvoretskaya) Tower and the Kremlin buildings and cathedrals behind it; the value in the languages of the union republics is gone. The paper carries a watermark of dark and light five-pointed stars instead of the portrait of Lenin. The note reads "Note of the State Bank of the USSR". 140 × 70 mm.

Issue history

The second issue of the 1991 hundred-ruble note: it is dated 1991 but entered circulation on 4 March 1992, after the first issue (Pick 242). The series run ИЭ–МЬ; two ways of printing the reverse are known — intaglio and offset. Notes of this series were withdrawn on 26 July 1993.
